Ingeniously designed and upcycled in the UK by master craftsmen this FREE-STANDING KITCHEN ROLL holder has been created from a vintage pewter shielded bobbin and a distaff has been used for the upright part of the holder.

A distaff was a staff for holding the flax, tow, or wool in the spinning process, A distaff was designed to hold the unspun fibres, keeping them untangled and thus easing the spinning process. It was most frequently used to hold flax, and sometimes wool.

As the Victorian Cotton and Woollen Mills closed throughout the industrial North of England and Scotland Bobbins, distaffs and shoe lasts were collected and preserved, over the past 40 years these have been transformed into historic artefacts.
